Willis Blair: Thats the kind of guy Willis Blair was. He had room for everybody, according to The Star. The mayor of East York in the early 1970s, Blair was a community mainstay and a mover in the Progressive Conservative party of his day. He held an array of government posts over the years, from the Ontario Municipal Board to the now-defunct Metro Council, and helped bring professional baseball to Toronto and As kids, Doug Blair and his two sisters always marvelled at how many friends their dad had. He d be greeted with smiles and nods at the Santa Claus parade and everywhere around town. He even found familiar hands to press at Expo 67 in Montreal. Wherever we went, he would know people, said Doug. I think he liked the contact with people.
