Veterans Affairs Canada: At Mondays meeting of the Nova Scotia standing committee on veterans affairs, deputy intergovernmental affairs minister Catherine Blewett said her office has struggled to get any information from Veterans Affairs Canada after the closure of a federal support office in Sydney, according to The Chronicle Herald. The Sydney office, which has 4,200 files, was one of eight support offices across the country that closed at the end of January. The federal government said it could no longer justify the cost of keeping the offices open and said veterans would be able to access services online, by telephone and at Service Canada offices and It has been all quiet on the Ottawa front as Nova Scotias politicians attempt to get answers about services for veterans. We re not hearing back from them.
