Gourmand World Cookbook Award and Normand Laprise

Normand Laprise: Montreal's Normand Laprise, co-owner of the restaurant Toque, is slated to take part in the Terroir Hospitality Symposium on May 12, the organization said in a statement. Laprise recently won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award for best cookbook of the year in English and French for "Toque! Les artisans d'une gastronomie Quebecoise.", according to Huffington Post. Terroir, celebrating its eighth year, brings together influential chefs, food and wine experts, restaurateurs and global influencers in gastronomy. This year's theme is "Growing Ideas: community building and creative collaboration in the world of gastronomy," which will showcase examples of how the industry shares ideas and collective resources to build strength and Celebrated Canadian and international chefs will headline an annual educational conference focusing on the hospitality industry this spring in Toronto. Also participating are David Chang of New York's Momofuku fame, whose Toronto restaurants are next door to the tony Shangri-La Hotel, Chef Daniel Boulud, whose two Canadian locations, Cafe Boulud at Toronto's Four Seasons Hotel and Maison Boulud in Montreal, join his roster of establishments in New York, Palm Beach, Miami, London and Singapore, and Chef Albert Adria, who gained a reputation in the culinary world cooking with older brother Ferran in their award-winning Spanish restaurant El Bulli and now owns several restaurants, including Tickets.
