Statistics Canada: There were 449,500 Nova Scotians employed in January, Statistics Canada reported Friday. Thats down less than half a percentage point from the previous month, based on seasonally adjusted figures. There were 447,800 workers in the province during December, according to The Chronicle Herald. A Statistics Canada analyst said the provinces unemployment picture was similar to the previous month and 12 months earlier and Nova Scotias economy lost 1,700 jobs last month, with part-time workers being the ones most affected. That decline included 1,100 part-time positions, which is a one per cent decline. There were also 600 fewer full-time jobs. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
