A staunch supporter of Israel, Harper hasn't yet visited the Jewish state during his eight years as prime minister. But his upcoming visit comes as several factors have changed domestically where it matters most. NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair has not shied away from expressing his support for the Jewish state, describing himself as an "ardent supporter of Israel in all instances."
