Favour Amadi

Favour Amadi: U of R President Vianne Timmons confirms the two U of R students, Victoria Ordu and Favour Amadi, agreed to leave the country voluntarily. They boarded a plane in Regina today for Toronto and a connecting flight later to Nigeria, according to CTV. The U of R had supported the young women in their appeal of the government deportation order. But Timmons says the young women decided their ability to re-enter Canada would be better served if they left on their own. Timmons says the decision to leave had been under consideration since September. She remains hopeful the pair will return to Canada to complete their studies and Two Nigerian students living in refuge at a church in Regina to avoid deportation are on their way home. The pair ran afoul of immigration officials after taking off-campus jobs in 2011 unaware they were violating student visas. All along the students had argued they had made a mistake, nothing more. Their case attracted national attention as the students remained in hiding for more than a year. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
