Paper Mill

paper mill: Some of the strongest supporters in favour of saving the former NewPage Port Hawkesbury mill are wondering aloud why the province bothered to salvage the plant if the new owner is going to undercut local contractors, according to The Chronicle Herald. Since there is a market for the type of paper that machine can produce, the provincial government decided to keep the plant in hot idle until a new owner could be found and Theres a troubling sound coming from the Strait of Canso that should be of concern to the Dexter government and the new owner of the paper mill there. The provinces forestry economy was at stake when the NewPage Port Hawkesbury mill declared bankruptcy in 2011. The paper mill could have closed for good, except that the plant has one of the most modern supercalendered papermaking machines in North America. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
