Tom Urbaniak: In fact, some might argue, the intensity of the centennial celebration at the only Polish church in Atlantic Canada is directly related to its threatened closure, according to The Chronicle Herald. The celebration has served to build energy in the community, said Tom Urbaniak earlier this week. People just seem to be getting stronger in their feelings about it all and SYDNEY St. Marys Polish Church is in the middle of a year-long celebration, but none of its parishioners have forgotten about the campaign to save the 100-year-old church. Last year, the provincially designated heritage building was placed on a list of Roman Catholic churches that would be closed. The parishioners were given a reprieve in light of this years anniversary thanks to a well-thought-out campaign.
