Ted Cruz: WASHINGTON - Ted Cruz, the Calgary-born conservative darling, has made a big splash in just five months as a U.S. senator and now he's apparently eyeing a run for president with the support of the very Tea Party crowd that has bitterly alleged U.S. President Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. , according to Winnipeg Free Press. Cruz was born in Calgary in 1970 to an American mother and a Cuban father an immigrant to the U.S. during the Cuban revolution while the couple worked in the oil business. The Cruz family returned to the U.S. when he was four years old; the senator grew up in Texas. Sen.
