Passengers: PFLP

PFLP: Indeed, justice delayed for 26 years is truly justice irreparably denied, according to The Star. In March 1970, an Athens criminal court convicted Mohammad of seven felonies including the liability for the death of Sirdan. He was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison. Shortly thereafter, however, another PFLP terrorist operation was launched to free the imprisoned Palestinians. On July 22, 1970, an Olympic Airlines flight with 52 passengers on board was hijacked by the PFLP. The gunmen announced that they would blow up the plane if Mohammad and other Palestinian prisoners were not released from jail. The Greek government capitulated and Mohammad was able to return to the PFLP in Lebanon to a heros welcome. He had served less than two years in jail and Now that the shameful and pathetic saga of Palestinian terrorist http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/statements/2013/2013-05-13.asp?utm source media-centre-email utm medium email-eng utm campaign generic has come to its anti-climatic end, many questions concerning how this gross travesty of justice was able to occur are being raised in Canada and abroad. The notion that a convicted terrorist and murderer could enter Canada, lie on his immigration application and then upon being exposed by Canadian authorities still manage to delay his court-ordered deportation for 26 years does not simply make a mockery of the Canadian immigration and justice systems, it evidences a basic inability of Ottawa to control its borders, defend its citizens and carry its weight in the international struggle against terrorism. For the family of the Israeli citizen murdered by Mohammad in Athens and those passengers who survived his criminal attack, watching this terrorist being allowed once again to travel freely home to Lebanon brings no closure nor sense that any measure of justice has been done. On Dec. 26, 1968, Mohammad along with another comrade from the extremist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine PFLP carried out an operation against an El Al airplane at the Athens airport as it was about to take off. On board were 10 crew members and 43 civilian passengers. The terrorists fired over 83 bullets and hurled eight grenades at the plane, targeting its cockpit, fuselage and wings. When the aircraft, failed to explode but began to leak oil the pair tried to light the plane on fire with matches. An Israeli passenger, Leon Sirdan, seated near a window was killed in the gunfire. The terrorists were only captured by Greek police when they ran out of bullets. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
