North America

North America: Thats what I learned from watching voice-over North American TV sitcoms like Whos the Boss and Family Ties as a kid I was so impressed by how well the Caucasian actors spoke Cantonese, according to The Star. My dream was to get into the esteemed University of Hong Kong which I did so that a decent career in the government or in a bank would come along. In 1991, I had an opportunity to transfer to an American university and I jumped at the opportunity to pursue my North American dream and Born and raised in social housing in Hong Kong, I dreamed of a life in North America where people could have burgers and sodas every day and every house was spacious with a nice backyard. Growing up, I knew I had to study hard, get good grades and secure a good job to get myself out of the 300-sq. ft. government studio apartment I shared with my parents and six siblings with zero privacy.
