Foreign Workers: Labour Force Survey

Labour Force Survey: Between 2008 and 2011, 65 per cent of "net new jobs created" were held by temporary foreign workers , the CLC said Friday, citing data from Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Labour Force Survey by Statistics Canada, according to CBC. A spokesperson for Industry Canada, however, disputes the CLC's numbers, citing a recent statement from Statistics Canada that says temporary foreign workers cannot accurately be traced by the Labour Force Survey and Saskatchewan may be creating thousands of new jobs, but most are held by migrant workers according to a recent study by the Canadian Labour Congress. CLC president Ken Georgetti said he wants those workers "placed in the permanent immigration stream, not exploited in temporary migration schemes." (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
