Independent Newspaper Dept: That is what has happened in the U.K., where an investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism for The Independent newspaper established that since 2010, U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May revoked the passports of 16 British citizens, many of whom are alleged to have had links to militant or terrorist groups, according to Calgary Herald. A private member's bill from Calgary Northeast MP Devinder Shory aims to bring similar legislation to Canada. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has come out in support of this initiative, saying the government wants to give Ottawa the power to revoke citizenship from Canadians who go abroad to commit terrorism or acts of war against this country and Is the Canadian government considering stripping Canadians of their citizenship so that the United States can quietly kill them abroad? Although details on their names and whereabouts remain scarce due to government secrecy, the Independent established that two were subsequently killed by American drone attacks. Another was "rendered" - kidnapped - from the African state of Djibouti, where his grandmother resides, to the U.S. last year.
