There he met a young Canadian dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and fell in love. He married, had a son and eventually was able to immigrate to Montreal to join his wife and child in 1989. For some, their dreams may take years to build. For others, those dreams may never materialize. Njacko Backo came to Canada in 1989, having left his native Cameroon in 1975, at the age of 17. He travelled to Nigeria via canoe and across much of west Africa for years, looking for a place to call home. His dream was to get to Europe a dream shared by many on his continent.
