Legal Aid Alberta Dept: Justice Minister Jonathan Denis announced Thursday that a $7-million surplus from his department 2012-13 budget will go toward Legal Aid Alberta, according to Calgary Herald. The announcement comes one week after the government released its 2013-14 budget, which had no increase to the program and Surplus money from this year is funding a boost to Alberta legal-aid program, but a group representing the province defence lawyers says it still not enough. We felt legal aid would be a good place to put it, Denis said.
