Battered Women Dept: "We don't need another plan," said Angela Marie MacDougall, executive director of Battered Women's Support Services, noting that she was consulted as part of several provincial planning processes on the issue in recent years, according to Vancouver Sun. "We're the ones that are supporting the women with their children every day. ... We're the ones trying to find the transition house, trying to advocate with the police, trying to support women through these legal proceedings." The B.C. government launched a public consultation Tuesday on ways to address domestic violence, but women's advocates say it is a lack of political will, not a lack of ideas, that is the problem. The money would be better spent giving the groups that are working in communities the resources they need to do what works, she said.
