Labrador City: Fort McMurray

Labrador City Dept: First, let me set the stage: Labrador City is hopping. I mean really hopping. The economy is on fire. Cranes are everywhere, neighbourhoods are popping up overnight, and prosperity is palpable. It s a mini Fort McMurray, according to The Chronicle Herald. Believe me, after years of hearing how business growth has stagnated or declined across the Maritime provinces, it was both refreshing and invigorating to witness the exact opposite and recently, I was lucky enough to visit a place in Atlantic Canada that provided me with a unique glimpse into our future. The place was Labrador City, and boy, do I have a story to tell. Growth is happening at such a rapid pace, businesses can t keep up. Every entrepreneur I spoke with shared stories of business doubling or tripling over the past few years. While the mining industry is driving the growth, it s the small, local, independent business community that s supporting it. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
