Karl Rove: Barack Obama

Rove Dept: A bespectacled Republican youngster, with a full glossy head of dark hair, shows up mid-way through the piece, making bold proclamations about how Nixon s well-organized outreach to voters was the way of the future. He spoke confidently, knowingly. His name was Karl Rove, according to The Chronicle Herald. Rove is almost utterly disgraced in the aftermath of Mitt Romney s defeat to Barack Obama. He still has his defenders among the Republican elite. But they are few and far between, given his American Crossroads SuperPAC raised millions for Romney and Republican congressional candidates to no avail and a friend recently sent me an old, grainy clip of a Dan Rather report from the early 1970s about Richard Nixon s re-election efforts. It seems fitting that Rove s first major role in national politics involved working for the re-election of Nixon, whose ignominious political end was looming thanks to the shady doings already being plotted by The Committee to Re-elect the President.
