President Barack Obama: America

Presidential Debate Dept: After endless months of campaigning, costing billions of dollars, with much of it anonymous and directed to negative advertising, the likely result is that this year s U.S. election campaign will prove itself to be the emptiest and most dishonest in modern American political history, according to The Star. This dreary prospect was on full display on Monday during the aimless presidential debate about America s role in the world. Although President Barack Obama convincingly won this debate by looking and sounding more like a commander in chief, Republican Mitt Romney emerged sweating but still standing, and appearing every inch a peacenik and with 10 days to go before U.S. election day , most of the votes haven t been cast, let alone counted, but the results on Nov. 6 can be predicted with virtual certainty. And in one sense, at least, it won t end up as a cliffhanger. Instead of being the historic choice between two competing visions for America s future that was initially expected, this election has turned out to be a staggering litany of lies and evasions by both sides. This means that, regardless of who wins on Nov. 6, neither Americans nor the world will have much of a clue about what the result means, except that it is finally over. Hail to the Chief, whoever he is and whatever he stands for. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
