Canadian Company Dept: I was astonished to read this article. Not only were Canadian companies in Ireland at a job fair but Immigration Minister Jason Kenney was with them. I love the Irish and mean them no disrespect when I ask what any Canadian company and a senior politician is doing at a job fair in Ireland when we have so many very well educated and unemployed youth here at home, according to The Star. Why aren t Kenney and all the Canadian companies attending job fairs overseas holding these same job fairs in our own cities? I think that should they do so, they d be amazed at the turnouts, quality of applicants and results and re: Canada s welcome mat is out for Irish workers, Oct. 8 I may have missed the memo or slept through the lecture that advised us that youth employment rates have improved dramatically, but last time I looked the unemployment rate for Canadians under 24 is approaching 20 per cent.
