Ross MacDonald Dept: "People actually get to hear the stories from the people who were directly involved," said Ross MacDonald, one of the actors in The Day it Rained Fire, according to CBC. One-third of Slave Lake was destroyed when wildfires fanned by high winds raged through the northern Alberta town on May 15, 2011. MacDonald, who lost his home that day, sees the play as a way to honour the community and a new play at the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival tells the true stories of people who lost their homes in the Slave Lake wildfire. "Everybody's seen the interviews ... but to hear the stories, the true stories that are in this play, it's simply amazing."
