The University of Manitoba department of physical therapy needs volunteers for a home-based hand exercise treatment study. Volunteers between 30 to 60 years of age who are diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis of the hands, own and are able to use a home computer, and are willing to attend four sessions for approximately 45 to 60 minutes each time at the Rehabilitation Respiratory Hospital, 800 Sherbrook St., are invited to participate in a home-based hand exercise study. Volunteers will need to perform a set of gentle mobility and strength exercises for the hands at their homes at convenient times for 15 to 20 minutes, four times per week for six weeks. After the sixth week, all volunteers will be invited for a two-hour group interview session to share their experiences on the hand exercises they performed.
