County Of Renfrew Paramedic Service Dept: Renfrew County paramedics said the incident happened at about 3 p.m. in Palmer Rapids, Ont., about 200 kilometres west of Ottawa, according to CBC. The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to an Ottawa hospital by air ambulance and a 61-year-old man is recovering after he was struck by lightning near Barry's Bay, Ont., on Tuesday. The man was swimming when a severe thunderstorm developed. He left the water and took shelter under a tree when he was struck, said Michael Nolan, chief of the County of Renfrew paramedic service.
