Ontario Medical Association: Family Doctors

Liberal Government Dept: After saying it was unable to reach a deal at the negotiating table, the Liberal government announced it is cutting the Ontario Health Insurance Plan OHIP fees it pays for hundreds of services that doctors perform, according to CBC. In Ottawa on Tuesday night, a panel of nearly a dozen family doctors and specialists described how specific fee changes will hurt patient care. One cardiologist said he's being asked to do fewer tests when following some patients and the Ontario Medical Association is holding town hall meetings across the province to rally support against cuts to fees for doctors' services . Gloria Juarez, who said she has a heart condition, said she was upset by the cuts she heard about, at Tuesday night's Ontario Medical Association town hall panel. The savings will amount to more than $300 million in the coming year, the government said. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
