Deu Raj Puri Dept: Yet despite the hardships, the journey to a new life in Canada is one many people hailing from Bhutan make every year, according to Vancouver Sun. Last weekend, this burgeoning community was thrust into the spotlight when two Lethbridge Regional Police Service officers killed a 26-year-old Bhutanese man named Deu Raj Puri following reports of a disturbance involving a weapon at his family home and their homeland is a tiny, mountainous Buddhist kingdom that is mostly closed off to the world. Their adopted home is the open Canadian Prairies city of Lethbridge and the contrast between the two is startling. With 500 people and growing in fact, 20 new refugees arrived this week the southern Alberta city is the new home to one of the largest Bhutanese communities in the country.
