Dennis Flaherty Dept: On June 10 we reported that a line of trees in a boulevard on the south side of Elson St. lined up in a way that obscured a stop sign at Tawney Rd. from eastbound drivers, according to The Star. Within a few days of our story, Dennis Flaherty, who deals with media for the Markham, emailed to say the stop sign and a school crossing sign were moved closer to the curb, where drivers can better see them and kids crossing the street in front of a Markham school are a lot safer after a stop sign was moved to make it easier for drivers to see. The intersection is next to Cedarwood Public School, where hundreds of kids were crossing the street in front of drivers who couldn t see the stop sign until they were almost on top of the crosswalk.
