Cancer Statistics Dept: Wednesday's annual report on cancer statistics showed out of all cancer diagnoses, lung cancer will account for nearly a quarter of all cancer deaths in Alberta, according to CBC. However, nationwide, death rates for the four major cancers lung, colorectal, breast and prostate are declining and lung cancer remains the most common cause of cancer death for both men and women in the province, a new Canadian Cancer Society study revealed Wednesday. It also revealed roughly 16,000 Albertans will be diagnosed with cancer this year and more than 6,000 will die from it.
