Manitoba Book Awards Dept: A first-time Winnipeg novelist sailed off with the top honour at the Manitoba Book Awards gala on Saturday night, according to Winnipeg Free Press. Keith, a 48-year-old English teacher at St. John's-Ravenscourt School, beat out several authors with many titles under their belts, including Wayne Tefs, George Amabile and Allan Levine and tREVOR HAGAN / Esm Claire Keith s Not Being on a Boat was a big winner at the Manitoba Book Awards. Esm Claire Keith won the $5,000 McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award for her debut novel Not Being on a Boat.
