Pan Am Games: Toronto

Rod Jackson Dept: The high salaries are completely inappropriate in these times of budgetary austerity, according to Tory MPP Rod Jackson, who raised the issue in the Legislature on Thursday, according to The Star. The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games are said to be Ontario s single largest economic stimulus over the next three years, creating 15,000 jobs and leaving a legacy of infrastructure projects. Toronto 2015 has a staff of 70 people and when the Pan Am Games begin in 2015, the government will have spent nearly $21 million on the top salaries of the organizing committee members, say the Progressive Conservatives. It starts with the CEO, at over $550,000 per year and others coming in at just under $300,000 per year, said Jackson. That is only 17 people costing Ontario families $21.6 million by the time the games start. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
