Ontario Hospitals

Finance Minister Dwight Duncan Dept: Ontario hospitals actually stand up very well to the rest of the country, in part as a result of the increasing investments we have made in health care since 2003, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan said Thursday in Question Period, according to The Star. Administration costs made up 5.92 per cent of all expenses incurred by Ontario hospitals in 2009, according to the report released Wednesday. That compares to a nationwide average of 4.84 per cent and the provincial government and its hospital sector are defending themselves after a national report found Ontario hospitals have higher administrative costs than elsewhere in Canada. A landmark report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information CIHI shows Ontario hospitals spend more on administration than hospitals in other provinces. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
