Real Estate Prices Dept: The first was: Nonsense! It's got nothing to do with race or racism. It's just the fact that locals can't afford to live here any more, according to Vancouver Sun. I tend to agree with the latter response - that as multi-cultural as Metro Vancouver is, and as tolerant as it claims to be, real racial resentments exist here and a couple of weeks ago, after writing about the issue of the effect Chinese off-shore buyers were having on real estate prices here - and the dangers of racializing that issue - the response I got fell into two camps.
