House Of Commons Dept: "They are going to cut benefits," said Gerry Byrne, who represents Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte in the House of Commons, reacting to comments that Immigration Minister Jason Kenney made last week, according to CBC. "We should not be bringing temp foreign workers from around the globe to take jobs in Canada in communities with chronic high unemployment," Kenney said and a Liberal MP from western Newfoundland says a new review of foreign workers in areas of higher unemployment is bound to turn into employment insurance cutbacks. Kenney told the Halifax Chamber of Commerce that EI recipients may be forced to take on minimum-wage jobs that have been filled by imported workers.
