Statistics Canada Dept: The agency reported the province's population jumped by 17,064 people in 2011 to an all time high of 1,067,612 people, according to CBC. "This speaks to the strength of our economy and illustrates a clear shift in the economic fortunes of our country to western Canada and to Saskatchewan," Premier Brad Wall said in a press release and saskatchewan is one of the fastest growing provinces in the country in terms of population, and it's largely attributed to immigration, according to Statistics Canada. International immigration contributed 10, 660 people to that figure, while natural increase based on births and deaths in the province contributed 5,223 people.
