Kamon: Applied Petroleum Technology

Greg Kamon Dept: The Polish geologist came to Calgary in early 2008 with his wife and two children to embark on a better life. With five years under his belt working in Libya's oilfields, Kamon says he saw Alberta as a nice fit for his skill set. The problem was his timing, according to Vancouver Sun. Knowing the industry has its ebbs and flows, Kamon says he decided the time was right for some professional development. He enrolled in SAIT Polytechnic's Bachelor of Applied Petroleum Technology program - two semesters of study aimed at workers who already have skills related to the oil and gas sector, to bring them up to speed with industry standards and practices and the timing seemingly couldn't have been worse for Greg Kamon. "We came here two months before the recession, and that made it very difficult to get a job in oil and gas," says the 34-year-old. (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
