Canada: Bramalea-Gore-Malton

Minister Of State Dept: They are not the only kabaddi fans in caucus. Canada s minister of state for sport is Bal Gosal, MP for Bramalea-Gore-Malton and a founder of one of Ontario s kabaddi federations. He is the first kabaddi administrator and organizer to be named sports minister, according to Globe and Mail. You see a lot of volunteer hours and even fundraising from these various kabaddi organizations, Mr. Bains said and in late October kabaddi got a special mention in the House of Commons when Brampton-Springdale MP Parm Gill offered a tribute to the Canadian team taking part in the recent World Cup in India. Mr. Gill was one of two government MPs who then travelled to India to watch the Canadian team play. The other was cabinet minister Tim Uppal, who was a guest of honour at Canada s semi-final upset victory over Pakistan. Former Liberal MP Navdeep Bains said politicians are serious about courting kabaddi clubs because they re well organized and make major contributions at election time. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
