Community Hubs Dept: It s just what residents of Peel Region are doing at Community Door, a one-stop centre where they can access a variety of health and social services, according to The Star. It s good for clients who don t have to travel all over the region to access programs they need. It also benefits front line agencies that share space, rent and operating costs with other community groups. Referrals to programs offered by other Door agencies are quick and easy, a matter of going across the hall, said White and build it and they will come. Similar to Community Hubs set up in many of Toronto s priority neighbourhoods, Peel s Community Door offers a combination of programs and services that are centrally located and easy to get to by public transit. The idea is to have a cluster of services under one roof, like a shopping mall, said Shelley White, CEO of United Way of Peel.
