Mortality Dept: Individual income has long been associated as a risk factor for mortality. And in most countries, income inequality has been found to have an impact on health and mortality, according to The Star. But this recent study by Nathalie Auger, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health , finds for the first time that the inequality in the distribution of income within a city or region in Canada also affects health and mortality and a study by a Quebec researcher has found contrary to what was previously believed income inequality does in fact have an association with mortality in Canada. But in Canada up until recently this did not seem to be the case.
