Provincial Nominee Program: Business Immigrants

Matchmaking Business Dept: "It's E-Harmony for business, so to speak," said Pat Bell, minister of jobs, tourism and innovation. The new service, part of the B.C. Provincial Nominee Program, will match potential business immigrants with owners of rural small businesses who want to retire and are looking for buyers, as well as support immigrant investors who want to move into the interior of B.C., Bell said, according to Vancouver Sun. Over the next decade, 1.1 million job openings are expected in B.C. due to economic growth and retirement. B.C.'s Skills for Growth Strategy projects that new immigrants will be needed to fill one-third of all job openings and the ministry of jobs, tourism and innovation is getting into the online matchmaking business. "The bulk of the immigrant investors have been residing in the Lower Mainland and we would like to see people spread their perspectives around the province," Bell said. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
