Montreal International Airport: Travelling Companions

Immigration Officers Dept: My husband and I both in our late 70s experienced similar problems while leaving Trudeau airport for the U.S. We arrived at 5: 45 a.m. for an 8: 35 a.m. flight. Our bags were checked and weighed in five to seven minutes, and then we stood in the winding security line for one hour where our boarding passes and passports were checked four times. When we finally got through, we ended up in the U.S. immigration lines where we waited another 85 minutes, again having our passports and boarding passes checked numerous times I lost count . There were 27 stations for U.S. Immigration officers, but only five were open for passengers plus one was open for crew members and one was open for handicapped passengers and their travelling companions. Can you imagine? Only five stations were open - there were hundreds of people waiting like cattle being led to market, according to Montreal Gazette. At our age we prefer direct flights whenever possible, but we also are starting to think of Plattsburgh, which advertises itself as Montreal International Airport South. "" Re: "A three-hour lineup at Trudeau airport: there must be a better way" Your Views, Sept. 26 . Having had bladder surgery, I was dancing a jig, believe me! Once through, we rushed to our gate, where I pleaded with boarding personnel to give me time to go to the ladies' room, which they kindly did. We no sooner sat down when the procedures for departure were started. I'm sure some people in the lineups, who did not arrive as early as we did, missed their flights. (www.immigrantscanada.com).
