Third Consecutive Year Dept: The cornerstone of the week's activities is today's Vision 2020 Symposium, held in Toronto by the Financial Planning Standards Council. The theme is the evolution of advice, according to Vancouver Sun. The symposium is at Toronto's Old Mill but there are plenty of other events planned across the country and in case you hadn't realized, we're now in the middle of Financial Planning Week. This is the third consecutive year Canada's 17,500 certified financial planners hold coast-to coast-events to raise awareness of the cause. It's hard to believe that after decades of writing about it, there's still a session on the "Alphabet Soup" of multiple advisory and financial-planning designations but it's on the agenda, as is a late session on appropriate compensation structures for a professional model.
