Jenny Lam: Immigrant Parents

Literacy Program Dept: Lam and her son, Theo Poon, took part in the Chinese/ English Mother Goose program in April organized by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., a multi-service immigrant support agency, according to Vancouver Sun. Lam, 37, is on a one-year maternity leave from her job and she wants to make the most of it and first-time mother Jenny Lam knows how to serenade her eight-monthold son with lullabies in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. But she can only do that because of a free literacy program aimed at immigrant parents. "I joined it because I didn't know anything about baby songs," Lam said. "And this one teaches the songs not only in English, but in Cantonese and Mandarin - I wanted my baby to pick up more." (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
