Welcome Breakfast Dept: The day begins with a welcome breakfast at the quay, 8 to 10 a.m., and an opportunity to tour the facility and step aboard The Hector. There will be free entertainment beginning at 1 p.m. featuring Alycia & Robert Putnam, John Spyder Macdonald, Fleur Mainville and Jim Dorie, according to The Chronicle Herald. A decorative blacksmithing workshop with Ruben and Rocky Irons begins at 1 p.m. Pre-registration required and highland Homecoming, a new event for Northeastern Nova Scotia, will be held Thursday at the Hector Heritage Quay in Pictou. Highland Homecoming commemorates the landing of the first Hector settlers in 1773 that started a wave of Scottish immigration. Genealogist Alan Marble will be on site all afternoon to provide advice on how to search a family tree.
