Dutch Newspapers: Cartoonist

Penchant Dept: And, like all the savviest professionals these days, he does almost all of it from home - in his case, the unassuming coastal B.C. town of Courtenay, population 22,500. Van Muijlwijk, who moved his family to Courtenay from The Netherlands in 2005, has cleverly parlayed his penchant for drawing into an entirely portable portfolio of highly marketable services. Cartoonist Jesse van Muijlwijk's comic strip runs daily in 14 Dutch newspapers reaching 3.5 million readers. His 20 books have combined sales of 100,000. He's invited to conferences from Sweden to Japan."I finished law school, but wanted to be a cartoonist, not a lawyer," said Van Muijlwijk, 50. "So now I produce a daily strip about a judge, lawyers, and everything that happens in a modern western society." (www.immigrantscanada.com). As reported in the news.
