Under the umbrella of our city's coolest and biggest indie music fest which turns 10 this year , Film Pop presents an array of "underground musical films and captivating documentaries." On the agenda are: PJ Harvey: Let England Shake, 12 short films by war photographer Seamus Murphy; Colour Me Obsessed: A Film About The Replacements, on the influential 1980s rockers; and Phil Ochs: There But For Fortune, about the struggles of the American folksinger. Dedicated to encouraging films about the realities of black people from around the world, this year's festival is bookended by two movies on slavery: opening film Case d part by Fabrice Ebou , Thomas Ngijol and Lionel Steketee, billed as an explosive comedy in which two brothers are sent back in time; and I Am Slave, by Gabriel Range, based on a true story about one woman's fight for freedom from modern-day slavery. The event will also bestow a lifetime achievement award upon African director Souleymane Ciss .
