Wing Groups Dept: D. Turner warns that Canada could see a repeat of the tragedy in Norway as a result of similar "multicultural immigration" policies which spawn reactionary right-wing groups in opposition, according to Montreal Gazette. I would argue that the real threat to Canadian society is not multiculturalism, or "an imbalance of ethnic immigration," but instead the type of xenophobia on display in Turner's letter and re: "Canada headed for repeat of Norway if policies stay same," by D. Turner, Letters, July 30. Rather than pointing to xenophobia and intolerance as the problem, though, Turner places the blame on the policies themselves. The tone of the letter gives the impression that Turner, while decrying the methods of right-wing extremists, is sympathetic to their cause. As reported in the news.
