Vancouver Sun Dept: On June 7, Dr. Isabelle Hughan was working at the Upstream Family Medicine clinic in Sechelt when officials contacted her by phone and told her to stop work immediately, according to Vancouver Sun. Hughan had been granted a temporary work permit when she came to Canada from the U.K. with her husband and toddler son. She quickly found a community of patients to serve in Sechelt and followed through with an application for permanent residency. The process stalled somehow and, with her temporary residency coming to an end, Hughan filed for a new temporary permit and a beloved family physician on the Sunshine Coast has been forced to stop working due to an immigration snafu, leaving 1,500 patients without services. "I had someone naked next door, waiting for a Pap cervical smear test ," said Hughan. "I was in tears." As
reported in the news.
