Housing Agency Dept: University student Munira Abukar was recently elected to TCHC s board of directors as a tenant representative. She s 18 years old, according to The Star. Abukar is part of the new wave of ultra-young voices popping up across the country s political and public service scene. In last month s federal election, Canadians voted in a host of young rookie NDP MPs in Quebec, including one who is the youngest-ever elected MP at just 19 years old and she ll be a fresh new voice on TCHC s board of directors and one of her primary goals will be working to restore confidence in an agency rocked by scandal. A lot of people might say, She s only 18, she doesn t know what she s talking about, she says. But as a resident of her TCHC complex since birth she feels she s well acquainted with the ins and outs of the housing agency. As
reported in the news.
