Classroom Teachers Dept: I get an insider view of funding for Alberta schools. Trustees or provincial officials rarely darken the classroom doorway. Even classroom teachers may not see the big picture. I am lucky, on call to hundreds of schools, according to Calgary Herald. Caretakers are asked to do more diligent cleaning, but with staff cut in half. Libraries are locked over lunch for lack of librarians. Fifteen texts serve for a class of 30. No supplies are given to kids, so by June, many are out of paper and re: "Premier blames teachers for cuts," May 31. We subs see what it's like on the ground. We see the innocence of youth trusting that what we offer matters, and we see where we are failing them. As reported in the news.
