It has condo owners in the four-storey facility -who are blaming shoddy workmanship for their plight -facing crippling bills to repair the damage and possible foreclosure on their homes. They're also wondering how the horror stories they often heard about could happen to them and in what's becoming a painful scene playing out across Alberta, a group of Calgary condo owners are facing financial ruin to repair millions of dollars in water damage to their building, and are demanding stronger consumer protection. The facility, completed in 2002, has approximately 60 residential units whose owners are stuck with a repair bill of about $5.5 million, up from the initial estimate of $3.8 million last fall once the full extent of the damage was uncovered.
