Controversial Resolution: Party Unity

Equal Voice Dept: It’s an internal battle that once shook the party in its early days, and threatens to do so again on the 2011 Conservative convention floor later this week, according to The Star. Now the controversial resolution — to abandon or water down the principle of “equal ridings”— is back and oTTAWA—Three federal Conservative heavyweights have written an open letter to grassroots party members to urge an equal voice for ridings in the choice of party leader. In 2005, Stephen Harper famously kicked a chair in anger when tensions bubbled to the surface at the founding policy convention in Montreal.
